The Gambia has experienced yet another internet outage throughout the country in the space of 5 days. According to a message sent by Africell to their customers, the issue is “due to an outage on the backup cable affecting the entire country all data services & international calls are down’’. The latest is among a series of recent internet outages in the Gambia. The last one was attributed to a fiber cut on the internet backup cable at Farato village.
Efforts were made to contact Sonatel about the reason(s) of the outage but they cannot be reached. However, a source within Gamtel talking on condition of anonymity said the issue could be related to a problem with the ace cable since the whole country is experiencing the issue.
We will keep you posted as the issue unfolds.
