Dear President Macron

Good evening from my end Your Excellency. I pray and wish that this piece finds you in abundant Salam and well-being.

In my previous notes, you have been gently urged to be cautious of policies your government intends to formulate and implement exclusively on a specific faith group.

It was put to your attention that critical issues you wish to direct at members of the Muslim Ummah living in France 🇫🇷 need a holistic approach with an open mind. Policies about to be bankroll on a minority community as sets of values of your ilks unmasked the high level of conspiracy and discrimination against a people who are equal citizens like you. The ongoing profiling and ill-treatment of a targeted segment of the citizenry is becoming a norm under your watch with little or zero efforts as a corrective line of action.

Mr. President, there are more compelling issues adversely affecting the lives and livelihoods of Muslims in France and it is to the knowledge of your government ranging from cases of stigmatization, insecurity threats, high level of intolerance, discrimination, inequalities, constant attacks on a Muslimah for simply wearing a veil, smear campaigns by mainstream media and growing rage of Islamophobia just to highlight a few.

France claims that equality and equity form the foundation in which the country subsist and uphold as part of its core values is not manifesting across the different communities.

The Separatism Bill which your government has prepared will now invite citizens who have been living side by side to be suspicious of each other unnecessarily.

Extending your hand requiring Imams to be trained and certified in France according to French values ignoring the rich norms and values of the teachings of Islam is deliberate intolerance, dishonesty and a serious affront on Muslims. That organizations receiving financial support from the state will be subjected to sign the “Secular Charter”, impose that funds of more than €10,00.00 ( Ten Thousand Euro) have to be disclosed to the state among others, are contained in the ill-conceived bill about to be introduced.

It is my prerogative as a Muslim to share thoughts and to implore you to sincerely consider the plight of Muslims living in a country which should dispense justice without any form of discrimination. Your Excellency, rest assured that the about to be implemented bill will have adverse effects that any serious and progressive government will double-check on before it is haphazardly implemented.

Crave for your understanding and sober reflection on what your government is about to unleash on a particular faith group.

Kindly accept the assurances of my highest consideration and continual exchange of notes when deemed prudent and necessary.

While I remain, resolute and committed to the cause of mutual respect and a better understanding of humanity as a citadel of hope irrespective of our inclination.

Respectfully

SN
