MC Cham Junior, youth president of the Gambia Democratic congress, on Thursday at a radio show reacted to the appointment and reappointment of the newly selected ministers who were appointed by President Adama Barrow and announced by Spokesperson of the Government, Ebrima G Sankareh, on Wednesday on the Gambia Radio and Television services.

Speaking on the show, MC Cham said “Hamat Bah

is reappointed because he has four National Assembly members and he is the most loyal minister to president Adama Barrow, whatever the president wants to hear is what Hamat Bah says, but we all know that ministry of tourism is not functioning right now”

He added that , President Barrow targeted 30 seats at the national assembly for the National people’s party Which he failed to achieve in the recently contested parliamentary race , he added that , relieving Hamat Bah  from his ministerial functions , he may lose the support of NRP members of parliament.

He continued that “If you look at the fisheries sector that’s was an agreement signed between European Union , Senegalese government and the government  of The Gambia  but the documents are being  requested by the citizenry to examine the basis of the agreement which could still not be produced by the government for transparency purpose .

He explained that , fish is very expensive in the country and he made reference to smoke fish which he said used to be provided at no cost is now beyond the reach of the ordinary Gambian as a result of corruption that engulfed fishery sector.

“The ministry of Agriculture it’s like President Barrow did what he feels like doing it because if you are to change someone, the person you are to bring should be more qualified than the one who left” he said

 He went on to say that , the farmers are neglected irrespective of agriculture being the backbone of this country’s economy . He alleged that , farming equipment are lately purchased and distributed which is a clear testimony of the government’s inaction to improving the agricultural sector .

“If you come to the ministry of finance we have seen series of economic problems , Barrow was advised  on the way commodities are increasing and Barrow also believed that its high time he removed them because there are series of problems that are not addressed, energy and the  power outage “ he emphasized.

 “when it comes to the minister of defense we have seen the kinds of chaos that emerged between the MFDC rebels and the Senegal military and look at the country the security of this country has gone down a lot” he queried .

Mr Cham Jr alleged that , the level of corruption that consumed the land ministry is another concern that derailed the development projects of this country .

Meanwhile he urged the newly appointed ministers that it doesn’t mean that they are the most educated elites in the Gambia instead it’s the president that believe in them so they should know that Gambians gave the land to Barrow to rule them and Barrow gave them the chance.

“we need immediate work as the country is not at a good stand, lets reduce the attack and give them the chance and see how they going to function. Mostly in three months’ time we should know whether a particular minster can do his or her job well or not” he added.

He added that in other for the ministers to work hard the leader has to stop sleeping and that you can have good minister but if the president is not working then it’s a problem and he should try to see ways to implement the repot of the truth commission.
