The chief of Anti Crime Unit (ACU) Gorgi Mboob, has been temporarily put on administrative leave following the recent allegation of beating, and attacking one Ebrima Sanneh on his private part.

The incident happened on Saturday 25 July 2020, when Ebrima and others were allegedly arrested around Senegambia and taken to the anti crime unit in Bijilo. The 26 year old was allegedly attacked on his private part for mistakenly uprooting a maize instead of weeding the grass, leaving him unable to pass urine.

The public however, expressed outrage over this unfortunate incident and the statement issued by the Police disregarding allegations that Ebrima was hit on his genitals with a hoe. The public, particularly the youth, called on the relevant authorities to relieve Gorgi Mboob of his service.

In response to the statement issued by the Police, Ebrima confirmed in an interview with an online platform that the statement is a mere propaganda aimed at misleading the public.

In a bid to get to the bottom of the matter, an investigation panel is expected to be established to unearth the truth surrounding these allegations. The panel will consist of members of the National Human Rights Commission, The Gambia Bar Association and the Police.
