Young Scorpions this morning underwent a mandatory Covid19 test ahead of the U-20 African Cup of Nations that gets underway in Mauritania today.
The team is currently holding the first of its double session training session for today’s game at the Stade Municipal Nouadhibou. Gambia storms Nouadhibou for AFCON finals, the young scorpions of The Gambia on Saturday morning landed in Nouadhibou and of their opening match in the 2021 total African U-20 Cup of Nations in Mauritania.
Matarr M’Boge and charges flew in from Morocco where they completed a 10-day training camp in Rabat. They played two preparatory matches and defeated Cameroon 1-0 and Burkina Faso 2-1.
The WAFU A Champions retained the core of their triumph in Senegal last year with the exception of Captain James Gomez who will miss out on the tournament because of injury.
New additions include Falcons’ defender Alagie Saine, Mustapha Jah, Fredina Jatta, Edrissa Ceesay, Talli Jallow of MK Dons, Doncaster Rovers’ Ethan Bojang and goalkeeper Serine Sanneh of West Ham United.
The team is scheduled for a double session for today with one at 10am and another at 6pm at the Stade Municipal Nouadhibou. The Young Scorpions will launch their campaign with a meeting with Morocco on Tuesday 16th February in Nouadhibou.
Gambia U-20 Coach Matarr M’Boge has recovered from Coronavirus. M’Boge rejoined his team to take over affairs.
