His Excellency, President  Adama Barrow, on Thursday, presented a Nissan Kicks to Gambia Olympians Gina Bass and an amount of D500,000 to the entire Tokyo team, at a ceremony held at State House on Thursday evening. The President said this presentation is done by his government to show appreciation to Gina and the entire team for the success registered at the games – something that raised the Gambia’s name higher at the 2020 Olympic.

The Olympians with the executive members of Gambia National Olympic Committee GNOC with their trainers, team Doctor were accompanied to the State House by the Minister of Youth and Sports, Deputy Permanent Secretary Technical, as well as Executive Director and staff of the National Sports Council.

In his appreciation remark, Honourable Bakary Y. Badjie, the Minister of Youth and Sports expressed delight over the gesture and initiatives so far taken by the Government of the Gambia under the leadership of His Excellency President Adama Barrow. He reiterated the Government commitment to support sports and the Young People of the Gambia.

He assures the Olympic Committee of a continuous working relationship, and Government commitment to supports all sporting disciplines. Emphasising that he’s always proud of athletes who represent Gambia at international level.

President Barrow equally expressed heartfelt gratitude to the team and commended the team for the commitment.
