A promising young chap discerned as Omar Touray, was stabbed to death in Sukuta on Wednesday 1 July 2020.

According to an eyewitness, Samba Sey, purportedly threatened to kill his uncle with a knife. His uncle, who did not take the matter lightly, decided to report his nephew to the police. Before the police could step in, Samba went out in the street “intoxicated” where he met Omar Touray and abruptly ended his life by stabbing him with a knife.

The eyewitness further revealed that, this is not the first time Samba was involved in such an act. In 2019, he stabbed one Amadou Saho of the same resident (Sukuta) after a failed attempt to steal his cell phone and money.

The 18 year old is currently at police custody helping the police in their investigations.

Police spokesperson Superintendent Lamin Njie, confirmed the incident. He stated “We can confirm an incident of stabbing at Sukuta leading to the death of 19-year-old Omar Touray on Wednesday July 1 ,2020. Preliminary investigations revealed that Omar was involved in a brawl with certain individuals during which 18-year-old Samba Sey (suspect) stabbed him with a knife. He was rushed to the Sukuta Health Centre where he was later pronounced dead.

Police Investigators visited the crime scene and have recovered evidential materials useful to the investigation. The body of the deceased has been moved to the EFSTH mortuary for further examination. The suspect Samba Sey, and two others are currently helping the Police in their investigations.”
