Four new COVID-19 related deaths recorded on August 20th brings the total number of deaths from the virus to 81 since the first case was confirmed in the Gambia in March.
Samples from all four deaths, three males and one female, were collected posthumously, the Ministry of Health said, in its daily situation report.
Out of six posthumous sample results received, one returned positive, 3 tested inconclusive and 2 were negative for COVID-19.
The country has also recorded 113 new cases taking the total number of COVID-19 cases ever confirmed in the country to 2,401.
And the median age of the new cases is 35 years and the age bracket range from 1 to 91 year.
309 new laboratory test results were received from the Medical Research Council the Gambia, and National Public Health Laboratory.
And of these 3 new tests returned inconclusive, 11 new discharges were made whereas no one was newly taken into quarantine for the first time since the coronavirus outbreak in the Gambia.
The country currently has 291 people in quarantine, 1885 active cases, 201 probable cases and a crude case-fatality ratio of 3.4 percent.
The ministry of Health says, the bulk of the active cases are asymptomatic and are self-isolating at home pending the manifestation of symptoms.
