The Gambian Christian Community have talked to social media expressing outrage and disappointment over a Gambian artist called ‘One Pac’ for caricaturing and mimicking the cheristian faith by exhibiting his personal picture on the cross. This  act is described by many as ‘religious bigotry’ capable of inciting violence.

Frederic Tendeng, commented on his personal Facebook page calling all responsible and genuine Gambians to condemn the open provocation of Christians in The Gambia. “Parading a mockery of Jesus Christ to seek fame and make money is no artistic creativity. It is openly provoking the Christian minority of The Gambia and sowing bigotry. In a context full of misconceptions and a growing religious intolerance in the country, we all should condemn the man calling himself “One Pac”. He urged.

“When a child wrongs neighbors, parents swiftly act to appease the neighborhood, show goodwill and preserve peace and cohesion. That’s The Gambia of diverse people living in harmony until recently, when religion has recurrently been agitated by angels of discord for ulterior motives.” He added.

Concluding, Mr. Tendeng said decrying this irresponsible act by One Pac against the Christian minorities in The Gambia is one way of ensuring peaceful coexistence between the two religions and refusing to condone moral dissipation that could lead to religious unrest.

Mr. Alpha Robison also commented and said “There is no place for hate and bigotry in whatever manifestation in our society. We must start to restore the values that made it possible for us to exist as a peaceful nation and proud as a nation and people, before it is too late; tolerance, peaceful coexistence, honesty, humility, kindness, fairness, being sensitive to what might hurt our neighbours. And that must take place at all levels, starting from the highest office, with the different arms of government setting the tone and marker for intolerance of intolerance, right down to the family unit.”
