The Gambia becomes the hottest spot to make headline on international media, after the most anticipated draft Constitution suffered premature  death in the hands of the members of the parliament of The Gambia. Following this national drama which has severely divided the nation influenced by partisan interest, attracted intervention of the foreign countries to help Gambia reach national consensus on this matter, it could be recalled that the former president of Nigeria Goodluck Jonathan flew into the county to facilitate  round table discussion between the stakeholders on this issue,

On Monday this week, few political leaders flew out of this county, to Nigerian ahead of a brief summit which is expected to be dominated by issues around the draft constitution. This move is unwelcome by some Gambians, some described this as national disgrace, by not reaching out national consensus on very significant state matters which resulted in bringing in a foreign mediation expert to help Gambia clear the obstacle to restore life into the draft constitution.

‘It is a shame why Nigeria, this is a Sign of weakness from the side of our politicians, its total waste of money, we have already wasted lot of money on the draft and it ended up dead which could have been averted,’ says one Alieu Faal.

One Modou Drammeh also added, ‘very sad nation, when we talk about the incompetence of Barrow lead government, we should equally talk about the opposition mafias as well, this is national disgrace,’ he lamented.

‘As a Gambia citizen, I see no reason why our opposition leaders should travel to Nigeria to solve a mess that was created by our members of the parliament that cost the country a lot’ Sulayman Kobe expressed.

The top nation’s politician who left the shores of The Gambia to Nigeria includes Mai Fatty of GMC, Ousainou Darboe of UDP, Dr Ismaila Ceesay of CA, GAP’s Musa Yali Bachilly amongst others, Gambians are waiting to see what may likely be delivered to Gambia out of this summit.
