Thursday morning about 20 Germany based Gambians met their untimely return to Gambia, these visibly frustrated Gambian arrived at the Banjul international Airport at around 2:30 am, and they were jetted in by corendon airlines. At the arrival, these deportees were each handed with about D6000 Gambian Dalasi by the International Organisation for Migration (IOM).
This sparked uncontrollable public outcry, blaming the Government for secrecy in trying to deal with this deportation crisis within the government camp without publicly making their stand or position known to ordinary citizens on the matter, chunk of Gambian blasted and accused the Gambia government, for what they called masterminding the entire deportation plan, influenced by so call EU and Gambia Bilateral relationship.
Quick flashback, could remind you that, last year Foreign Affairs minister of Germany, told lawmakers that about 4000 Gambians in Germany may face deportation.
Speaking on this situation, Nyima Jadama, Gambian German based activist and journalist, mentioned that this deportation created mix reactions and send shock wave amongst the migrants within Germany, especially undocumented Gambians, who are in asylum situation. She added that quite a number of migrants are working but pretty numbers are struggling to secure residential permits.
Activist Jadama, blamed the Gambia government for not considering the plight of Gambian Germany immigrants, she accused that the Government approach in dealing with the matter since onset was not effective, she added that the bilateral strategies could be developed to manage the crisis but was quick to say, Government advanced their personal interest in the bilateral approaches than the interest of the Gambian people.
She called on the Gambia Government to play the most effective leadership role in managing this crisis; she also challenged Gambian immigrants in Germany and other parts of Europe to desist from crimes and other ill mannered issues that could jeopardize their status in Europe.
