The family of the late Gibril Ceesay who was gruesomely murdered yesterday 15th March 2021 in Sanyang have spoken about his killing by an invader.

The victim was involved in a fight with the assailant before he was stabbed at his neck and rib.

Omar the victim’s elder brother who suffered from stab wounds as he fought the assailant said the incident happened on Sunday at  around 10 pm.

His death brought a violent protest in Sanyang with protesters  attacking the Chinese fishmeal factory and setting  the town’s police station ablaze.

The protesters pelted the police with stones and projectiles as tear gases were fired to disperse the mob.

The police were at the protest while the army sent troops to guard the destroyed police station.

“The Inspector General’s Office wishes to urge the people of Sanyang Kombo South to exercise restraint and allow the law to take its course. Meanwhile, efforts are ongoing to put the situation under control,” said in a statement issued by the police.
