The Police Spokesperson, Superintendent Lamin Njie, has yesterday confirmed to reporters that police have launched a panel investigation involving the barbaric homicide of a young girl identified as Marie Mendy in Busumbala, and the suspected killer Zeizon Gomez, who also allegedly killed himself after the mudrder of the grade 12 student. 

“We are not leaving out or ruling out anything. A full panel has been set up to look into this and all information received will be diligently analysed in search of a lead and solving the crime. All details of the crime scene have been taken and recorded,” he said.

When asked if the police are aware of the different stories people are speculating on the streets regarding the incident he said: ”Unlike the public and the media, the police cannot engage in speculation. We will have to come out with tangible evidence or credible lead to discount or confirm any theory”.

PRO Njie urged the public to stop sharing graphic pictures of the victims on social media and show some courtesy to the victims’ family. He further advised the public to desist from sharing such ghastly images on social media.
