An alleged armed robber had broken into the house of one Ahmad Drammeh at Manjai Kunda. The victim who was sleeping when the incident occurred said,
“I was in my room when I heard a noise outside, so I decided to push the curtain aside to see what actually was happening there, then I realized it was a burglar who had already invaded the compound and opened the box on my uncle’s scooter which was parked under the veranda and took something from the box and put it in his pocket.
Then he tried to unlock the front fork lock to gain access to it but could not. So he then started approaching my door bypassing that of my uncle and aunt, knowing fully well that I wasn’t having any weapon in my possession, it could be risky to allow him to find me in the house.”
According to Ahmad, the alleged robber was fully armed that’s why he decided to attack him first, he first recited his supplications and found him outside and started screaming “thief!, thief!”, then he started fleeing away and that was when he started chasing after him and swept his legs off the ground the moment he reached him and started fighting him.
“He pulled out a scissor and stabbed me on my hand, at first I thought it was a screwdriver, but I only came to realize that it was scissor when I went to the hospital, discovering paired holes in my hand, and I have also later picked a scissor from the scene where he fell which further convinced me that it was indeed a scissor that he used, then he escaped and started running again trying to pass through the main gate when again I chased after him and stamped him when he fell on the ground, that was when people came out and we eventually caught him. He was then seriously beaten and then allowed to go.”
He went on to say that the attackers might be having this false impression that he could be having something really valuable in his handbag which he always carries to work, and that might have compelled them to launch the attack on him.
Meanwhile, to combat any possible future attacks of this nature, there’s a need for tight security in the Country.
