Six students were decorated on Friday the 7th of May, 2021 for being outstanding in various examinations conducted by the West African Examination Council (WAEC). This award ceremony was held at the council’s headquarters in Banjul. This award ceremony was attended by educationists, parents, and awardees.

These awardees comprised students from different categories of school namely upper and senior secondary schools namely Nusrat Senior Secondary School, SOS Lower Basic and Upper Basic School, St. Peters Senior Secondary School and Presentation of Merry Basic Cycle School.

The awardees are as follows:

Muhammed M Touray –Best candidate,  Nusrat Senior Secondary School (WASSE)

Edirisa Fatty –2nd Best candidate, Nusrat Senior Secondary School (WASSE)

Ousman Gaye-3rd Best Candidate, Nusrat Senior Secondary (WASSE)

Umar Kamara – Best candidate, SOS Lower and Upper Basic School (GABECE)

Daniel N. Osuoho- 2nd Best Candidate, St. Peters Junior Secondary School (GABECE)

Ebrima Gajaga-3rd Best Candidate , Presentation of Merry Basic Cycle School (GABECE)

Mr Louis Mendy, the permanent secretary of Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education (MOBSE) who doubled as the Chairperson of the National Committee, commends the awardees, their teachers, schools and parents for making the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education proud.

In her part, Honorable Claudiana  A. Cole , Minister of Basic and Secondary Education (MOBSE) reassured the gathering the Gambia Government’s commitment to continue to fulfill its part to the council through logistics and human capacity support and ensure the smooth conduct of free examinations in the country .

The awardees cash prizes and certificates in recognition of hard work and excellence.
