As the dust of politics rose in the sky, this has created so much indifference amongst the players of domestic politics which includes all the stakeholders which the civil society organisation formed part of.

Recently, the civil society organisations namely, Gambia participate, center for research and policy development  including the councillor for Box Bar ward Abdou Aziz Gaye express intention to file a lawsuit against the office of the Mayoress of Banjul and the IEC over issuance of attestation.

Speaking on behalf of the CSO’s Fanta Sanneh of Gambia Participate stated that, they have seen the IEC giving powers to the Mayoress of Banjul to issue attestation to which they believe contravenes section 12 and section (2)of the election act of the Gambia. She added that Gambia, amongst other CSOs, are committed to ensure there is respect for the rule of law and to emphasise checks and balances which is geared towards protecting the constitution of  this country. Fanta added that it’s the responsibility of all to protect the constitution of the Gambia and these facts influenced their decision to take the earlier mentioned entities to court.
