BRIKAMA FIRE SERVICE NOT FUNCTIONAL.

I wish to draw the attention of the Inspector General of Police and the Minister of Interior on the plight of the Brikama Fire Brigade. I wish to remind you that the Brikama Fire Brigade covers from Kafuta to Kartong , to Brufut , Lamin and Busumbala serving a population of over Four hundred thousand people. It is shocking and very disappointing to learn that there is no usable fire fighting tanker at the Brikama depot. This is dangerous, and urgent action should be taken to avoid any unforeseen danger or catastrophe.

Serious Fire incidents happened at Brikama Berewuleng and Gunjur fish landing site, and Brikama Fire Service could not do much. It was the Fire Brigade from Serekunda (Churchill’s Town) that came to help at both scenes . WHAT IS WRONG ?  The largest Region without a single fire fighting tank. The staff are willing to work but they are always frustrated by the lack of fire fighting equipment. How long shall this continue? The West Coast deserves môre than this if the government is indeed responsive to the plight of its citizenry.

In view of this situation, I appeal to your office for a quick intervention before we are caught up in another devastating scene. The West Coast Region is too big without a functional fire  fighting tanker. We cannot continue relying on Serekunda Fire Service for coverage. Considering the importance of Fire Services, I hope this matter will be given due consideration and maximum attention. While I continue serving our people, I thank you so much for the attention and understanding.

Respectfully yours,

Hon Momodou charreh Gibba

Councilor Gunjur Ward.
