August 16, 2021, Ramou J Sabally, top NPP mobiliser and grassroots politician with more than 25 years of experience left President Barrow’s NPP and formally announced her decision to join the UDP.

Confirming her decision, Ramou a former NPP national women’s spokesperson and Barrow’s Sisters chairwoman, thanked the UDP executive and supporters for their persistence in getting her join the party.Madam Sabally started with the Barrow Youth for National Development, Barrow Fan Club and then the NPP.

According to Ramou, she is happy to join her brother, Momodou Sabally in UDP; she declared that she has returned all the positions given to her by the NPP. “I want to tell all Gambians and especially my followers that henceforth I have joined the UDP,” she said.

Reacting to his sister’s decision to join him, UDP’s foot soldier Momodou Sabally said: “Well this is major league stuff; and certainly nothing short of a game changer in the run up to the 2021 two-horse race between NPP and UDP”.

“I feel vindicated and revved up as I intensify my push to unseat Barrow and install Lawyer Darboe as our next president. Having my sister by my side is both insulation and an energizing shot. She knows grassroots politics more than I do and her links, built up over half a century nationwide, will be an invaluable addition to our election machinery,” Sabally asserted.
