Gambia Football Federation published the CAF’s released schedule on their Facebook page on 9th October 2020. The Confederation of African Football(CAF) has released the schedule for the Afcon qualifiers resuming in November 2020.

The Gambia will travel to Gabon where the scorpions will take on the Panthers on 12th November at the Stade De La Renovation in Franceville at 20:22 hrs and a return to Banjul four days later for match Day four fixture scheduled for November 16th 2020 at the independence stadium in Bakau at 16:00hrs.

For Cameroon 2020, the qualifiers resume on 9-17 November 2020 with Day three and four matches whilst the penultimate and ultimate matches take place on 22-30 March 2021.

The resumption of matches next month will see the Gambia scorpions and the Gabonese Panthers square off in a thrilling affair.

The Gambia leads group D on four points joint with Gabon but on a better goal difference of +2. DR Congo and Angola are trailing on 3rd and 4th position with the letter on zero point.

Gambia is yet to be featured at CAF’s flagship tournament, meanwhile there is hope for the Gambia’s maiden appearance to Cameroon 2022.

The Scorpions opened their campaign with an emphatic 3-1 away win in Luanda after coming from behind with two goals from Assan Cessay and a late strike to take all three points away from home.

The victory was Gambia’s first away triumph in a competitive fixture for 36 years since the Gambia defeated Mauritania in 1983. The win boosted by a home draw to DR Congo at two all.
