The Bakau community has been the lead of many news outlets in the country, as the rumour of series of exhumation whirls fast.

It could be recalled that various media  reported on the first exhumation purportedly held at Bakau Cemetery during the first week of March. This was later confirmed to be true and the exhumed mortal remains were later reburied with the help of community elders, police and some health officials.

Barely a week after the dust of the first exhumation subsided, reports emerged on another exhumation, which is claimed to have been beheaded this time around at the same cemetery. This is considered unfounded by some elders in the community including the caretaker stationed at the cemetery.

Speaking to the Media, Sutay Samateh, who is the deputy Imam of the community, confirmed that the first body was indeed exhumed from the cemetery, however, was quick to mention that, no foul play was observed on the remains as carried on some media platforms.

The deputy imam of Bakau stated that he is not aware of the second exhumation; he added that it might have happened, but in his capacity as the assistant imam of the cosmopolitan Bakau is not aware of reoccurrence of such an incident.

In his strong words of condemnation, the caretaker of the cemetery, frowned at the standard news paper’s 10th of March publication, he said this “my stand on the whole issue is the publication in the standard news paper of the 10th of March, that there is another exhumation at Bakau central cemetery .The graveyard in the picture is not Bakau, the story is unfounded, the story was meant to tarnish the image of the community “he stated. He urged the management of the standard to apologise to the community of Bakau as he claimed, the community is stained for this and their stories carry nothing but mere dust.

He revealed that he has taken up the janitor job at the cemetery on voluntary ground as the place carries  the body of his family and love once.
