Banjul City Council in collaboration with volunteers from Edward Francis Small Teaching Hospital on Sunday 9th August 2020, launched a new project amidst the battle against the current global pandemic called “KNOW YOUR COVID-19 STATUS INITIATIVE” for the people of Banjul.

This initiative is aimed at suppressing the rapid spread of Covid-19 within the City. The Lord Mayor of Banjul, Rohey Malick Lowe, called on individuals to know their Covid-19 status. “We appeal to everyone to come forward to be tested” she said.

Hundred  people are expected to be tested for a start. However, the process will continue based on the availability of the Medical Team that will be conducting the test.

The number of Coronavirus cases in The Gambia is on the rise as more than one thousand people have been infected, including frontline workers, health personnels and journalists. It could be recalled that the deadly virus found its way to The Gambia in early March with cases upsurging lately.
