Mr Ibrahim JS Sanneh the independent contender for the Brikama Area Council chairmanship  has stressed in a powerful statement that conflict , divisions and misunderstandings have already started emerging between political parties with regards of choice of candidate .In view of this unfortunate development,mr Sanneh urged all candidiates intending to contest for the Brikama Area Council Chairmanship to immediately withdraw their bids and rely behind him for national interest.He  justifed that persons who win the seat on a divided political ticket will be carried by emotions and that they will not be able to unify the already politically fragmented society.

” I am the only independent contender so far ,who is not affliliated to a political party.Indeed there are other contenders but they are from political parties.The worst of all is those hoping to  contest under party tickets.There are many candidates lined- up already and their parties are already divided as whom to chose.If they win on party tickets,they cannot unite us because they will be carried by emmotions and party agenda,” mr Sanneh stressed.

He highlighted that councils are consisted of different councillors from different political  parties and in order to lead them as chairman ,it  will be better off with him as independent chairman.

“Political parties have their agendas which they normally adhere to,their councillors are also doctrined with the same phylosophy.Wards councillors of different politcal parties hardly marry their various agendas .Each of them is partisan in approach.They can easily cope with an candidate chairman who is open- minded and put his community and national interest first.This is not a propaganda; we all no that our parties ideologies  refflect on our behaviiours,our interaction with others  co – politicians from other parties.,” Mr Sanneh advised.

Regarding his agenda of peace building,reconciliation and inclusiveness,mr Sanneh expressed concerned about the already divided society based on party politics and said he is worried about its future consequences  on the residents of the West  Coast Region.

The National Peoples Party (NPP)  is a break- away faction of The United Democratic Party(UDP).The peoples Progressive party (PPP) is also in sambles with a break- away faction.The National Conventions Party(NCP) as well.It will be challenging for any winning chairman from these parties to unify us,” mr Sanneh warned.

Mr Sanneh says he is currently the youngest comtender under the youth cadre for BAC chairmanship and pointed out that leadership requires patience and  selflessness.
