Chunk of Gambians have vented their frustration through the media, expressing their honest feelings towards what many described as lack of willingness  from the law enforcement officers and stakeholders to reinforce certain laws which were beautifully worded and have been longed tabled in the national assembly of The Gambia, thereby, awaiting implementation ,such as anti littering law, prohibition of public smoking as well as compulsory wearing of face mask to curb the spread of covid amongst host of other laws.

This reporter went out to sound the opinions of the public over these laws which were enacted by the law makers, which gave out clear indication that, it’s must be reinforce with the view to establish a well refined and discipline society.

Speaking to this reporter, Mustapha Ceesay a teacher by profession blast the security officers of this country for creating a room for many to flout the law, especially the law which condemned public smoking, he added that this particular law isexpected to be reinforce to its efficacy, he lamented that the law enforcement officer are occasionally sighted in public places openly disregarding this law which could serve as deterrent to its full implementation, equally could create a floating gate for continuous defiance to the law.

He urged all to cooperate with the security agencies which are entrusted to reinforce laws, to condemned public smoking also to ensure offenders are prosecuted as it’s a crime.

Pateh Jawo, a business man in Bakoteh indicated that the law which encourages compulsory wearing of face mask is clearly not being reinforced by the security personals, he warned that, covid 19 is still very aggressive, this he urged the health sector to mount pressure on the securities to ensure this law is comply with or else the public will be subject to greater risk of contracting the virus which may send the country back to another lockdown.

Abubacarr Njie a final year student at the university of The Gambia, stated that this country is good at making beautiful laws which attracts no respect in the end, he sighted anti littering bills, laws condemning the use of plastic bags and other beautiful laws  as an example, which he said were designed to instil discipline, he was quick to lament his frustration over lack of reinforcement from stakeholders which includes security organs , The  National Environmental Agency (NEA) and the national assembly. He urged unanimous efforts to see these laws being implemented to the maximum.
