“Who gave EU the Right? Concerned Citizens stand concerted in the fight against LGBTQI in The Gambia.”
Gambians participated in the recently concluded Constitutional Review Process and clearly stated that they want no gay business in our country, The Gambia. Gambians submitted position papers to the Constitutional Review Commission (CRC) and clearly stated therein that they want no lesbian business in this country. The CRC Issues Document deliberately omitted the LGBTQI issue since those venerable CRC commissioners knew fully well that this nonsense is a non-starter and will not sit down well with Gambians. Our Constitution is still at the level of the executive, not yet gazetted, not yet debated at the level of the National Assembly, and even not yet voted in a referendum. Homosexuality is actually criminalized in The Gambia’s Criminal Code. The Gambia’s Draft Criminal Offences Bill of 2019 reflects the same rejected and criminalized position of homosexuality in The Gambia, which is further classified and considered as an aberration, an unnatural act. Both the 1997 Constitution and the CRC Final Draft Constitution (2020) do not recognize or even mention in the slightest least the issue of LGBTQI. Yet here we have the EU and its country representative in The Gambia, boldly stating that they stand ready to break the silence and campaign for the rights of LGBTQI in The Gambia. Brandishing before our faces an annoying false flag! What effrontery!
Who gave EU the right to meddle in the internal affairs of our country? Who gave EU the right to determine and dictate to us as Gambians who and what we should reject or accept? Who gave EU the right to highjack or constitutional building process? Who gave EU the right to challenge our current and active laws? Who gave EU the right to speak on behalf of Gambians, especially the 96% Muslims, after we have already spoken on a matter which we have described and rejected as “filthy”? A matter which is clearly inconsistent with our religious beliefs, cultural norms and practices. Upon what legal, moral and constitutional grounds has the EU done what it just did? Does the EU have any right whatsoever to undermine our independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity as a nation, state and people? Could not such acts provoke reactionary moves to petition for the removal of the EU representative from our country forthwith as persona non grata?
The EU speaks of the defending the human rights of Gambians. Really? Then let us look at EU records regarding the provision of basic and fundamental Human Rights. The right to freedom of religion and manifest one’s beliefs were denied to Muslim women in certain EU countries who were prevented from wearing veils in public, thereby identifying themselves as Muslim women. Muslim men in EU countries cannot practice polygamy. The EU’s argument in this vein is simple. The Islamic veil and polygamy is inconsistent with those EU member countries’ norms and practices. Yet still a married man in such EU countries can easily have concubines and mistresses. Similarly, LGBTQI in The Gambia is inconsistent with our religious beliefs, accepted cultural norms and practices. So why vexingly try to force this virus down our throats? Is the EU perhaps encouraged and emboldened to make such unacceptable statements due to their development assistance laced with stringent preconditions to adhere upon skewed definitions of democracy, rule of law and human rights? Has the EU forgotten that we the people elected our governments and shall hold them accountable? Such statements by the EU can only bring about chaos and sow discord. However, this we shall not allow.
We ask all of these questions for good measure, in order to provoke sensible reflections, so that critical minds will question and think. Eyes willing to see will see. Ears ready to listen shall hear and take heed. Sane voices will speak up against such gross EU and any other world injustice. What does the EU stand to gain or lose in any campaign for the rights of the LGBTQI in The Gambia? Is LGBTQI part of a global depopulation agenda to ensure that Africans and Gambians do not reproduce? EU listen and listen well please to what we Gambians and Concerned Citizens have to say. Africa does not tell you what to do, so please you need to respect and not dictate to us. If you want to help, then by all means do so sincerely and meaningfully by facilitating the implementation of sustainable development projects so that our youths can access increased gainful employment and forever stop migrating to your countries. We need to feed our hungry through enhanced food self-sufficiency projects and programs, and not LGBTQI. We need to provide biological female women wives for our young men. We do not need LGBTQI. We need to provide biological male men husbands for our young women. We do not need LGBTQI. LGBTQI is definitely an insult to our mothers, fathers, grandparents, children, Imams, Chiefs, Alkalos, and the entire Muslim world. The EU could perhaps assist to fund the production of a vaccine to cure the LGTQI disease. People should indeed be immunized so as not to catch this contagion, this despicable LGTQI virus.
Concerned Citizens, shall henceforth refer to the LGBTQI, as Sodomizers and Gender Erasers (SGE)! They seek to glamorize their senseless affairs through the appellation of fanciful names in order to make themselves more appealing and acceptable. We shall nonetheless call them by the derogative and diminutive labels which they should be truly known for, SGE.
Gambians, wake up! Muslims wake up! Concerned Citizens, wake up! Let us not accept to be raped and bastardized. This is completely unacceptable. If the EU stands ready, then we shall likewise rise up and respond to this challenge with full readiness, and will tirelessly fight against SGE in this country. Why did the EU not utter such nonsense during the former regime? For 22 years the EU was silent on SGE and why is that? So now is the time for the EU to break the silence and campaign to promote this nonsense in our country and in the name of democracy? What democracy? If the principle of democracy is what the EU truly seek to uphold, then please look to what the majority, the 96% Muslims of The Gambia hold as belief and practice, and respect it. There is nothing more democratic than this. Our known cultural and religious identities, beliefs, norms and practices must be respected by all means, and without any exception. We completely reject the SGE. Not in our country. Period.
