The Gambia’s Ministry of Health has just announced confirmation of 61  new cases of the coronavirus.The highest number to be registered in a day.

The latest news brings the total number of cases to 277. There are 204 active cases under treatment while 54 new persons taken to quarantine, 6 deaths have been recorded with 49 recoveries so far.

As the number of cases continue to multiply, the president however, on Wednesday has lifted  the state of public emergency. This decision according to the press release is to reduce the hardship faced by household across the country.
The country’s border and airspace still remains closed.

Meanwhile, the  public is informed of the resumption of normal social and economic activities, albeit under stringent health and safety measures.
