Dr Isatou Touray, The vice president of the Gambia presented D2 million to victims of last week’s windstorm in the North Bank Region as a donation from President Barrow. Governor of the North Bank Region, Lamin Saidykhan received the donation.

Speaking at the occasion Madam Touray said, The president was unhappy about the damage of the windstorm and decided to take the spirit to donate in his own rights against the tragic situations. VP Touray extended heartfelt condolences to the victims families who died as a result of the windstorm, which she said is a natural disaster.

Dr Touray said she was assigned by the president to extend his condolences to the victims of Daru Busumbala who lost their 80 year old son and donated D40.000 to the family whilst the president was away.
She called on philanthropists, entrepreneurs, individuals and the private sector to emulate President Barrow’s initiative to donate generously to the victims.

Lamin Saidykhan the governor of North Bank Region after receiving the donation stated that he has a peaceful mind after being traumatized by storms in the region. He appreciated the D2 million donated by President Barrow. Some people are homeless right now while others are in a different situation which includes loss of lives. He said the donation will go Far Away in assisting lots of people even though all the victims cannot be amended at the same time.

He appreciated President Barrow’s good leadership to reach out to the population confirming his commitment.
