The Gambia armed forces at the request of civil authority has deployed troops to Kerr pateh village in the North Bank Region on Monday following a rash of armed robberies in the community.

It could be recalled that sometime back in June, the village came under a violent armed attack by some criminals and a considerable amount of money and other items were looted from businessmen.

This incident is symptomatic series of periodic arm robberies that happened in villages particularly along the Gambia Senegal border.

According to reports, these armed robbers used pick-ups and horse carts as mode of transport to launch attacks and cross the border back to Senegal.

“the Gambia armed forces have launched an operation called ‘FOX HUNT’ to defend and protect lives and properties of Gambians in this area of the border.” Said Lamin Sanyang, on the armed forces face book official page.

The National armed forces have been tasked to “conduct vigorous patrol within the area in order to completely deter the armed robbers from harassing members of the community and to allow economic and social activities to thrive without hinderance.”

The armed forces look for the cooperation of the public especially residents of Kerr pateh.
