Great Ambitious Muslimah For Education and Modestly (Gamfem) over the weekend donated over 300 hijabs/veils, Prayer Mats, Kettles among others to the Quranic school in Kerr Biran and over 50 prayer garments to the women of  Tatimile a neighbouring village in Kerr Biran as part of their primary objective to support rural communities with basic learning materials to help ease some of their challenges.

Gamfem is a women-led Islamic organisation that was formally launched in The Gambia last year December  with the sole aim of promoting, assisting and educating muslim women in the matters of their religion and the significance of women in Islam.

Speaking at the presentation, the president of Gamfem Mariama Jallow, expressed profound gratitude to the residents of Kerr Biran Darul Islam for their warm welcome and seized the opportunity to remind the gathering the importance of education especially girls education. She encouraged parents’ guidance and teachers to lead by example and teach their children the deen.

Isatou Betts, the finance director of Gamfem expressed similar sentiment and advised them to use the donated items for its intended purpose. She called on the teachers of the school to double their effort and continue inculcating good morals and values to the students as they are the future leaders of tomorrow. She also thanked their donors and well wishers for always supporting their projects.

The Imam and teachers of the madrasa thanked Gamfem for coming to their aid. According to them, they’ve been encountering numerous challenges as far as running the village madrasa is cornered, but are grateful to Gamfem for closing some of those loopholes and restoring their hope in humanity and the spirit of supporting one another in terms of needs as Islam dictates.
