The Gambia Action Party would like to remind the government that our sovereignty must not be jeopardized as we attained independence in 1965 after we encountered serious hurdles during the British self perpetuating rules that wreaked havoc on the growth and development of our nation.
The realm of our existence as a nation is beyond foreign influence as fifty six years when the British civilisation has been eradicated and forgotten, we still endure the pains and until now we are conscious of the foregoing and working to recover hundreds of thousand wasted years that horribly destroyed our sovereignty and governance.
The Gambia Action Party is calling on the government to ignore all the foreign influence amid widespread protests from UK MPs advising the government on the TRRC recommendations. We would like to remind the UK government that Gambia is a sovereign country and our affairs must be dictated by our people without any duress and adherence to any personal pleas will be catastrophic to our judicial system and years to restructure that dented reputation. The affairs of the former President remain crucial in our history and national unity should ring in the mindset of our government to ensure that justice is never delayed or denied.
Powerful as they touted themselves, the UK government especially the seven Members of Parliament should work together and enact drastic measures to ensure racial discrimination is eradicated in the UK and other parts of the world as what happened to the three black players when England lost the Euro Cup final against Italy after penalty shootout incident.
Our current leaders must have an extraordinary vision to ensure that our bilateral and multilateral corporations with other nations are based on corporate social responsibility as well as respect for international convention on human rights, a direction that our government will operate on. We call on the government to restore public confidence and defy all odds in dealing with the outcome of TRRC recommendations without being forced, persuaded or biased as more people with personal whims and caprices have shown interest in extradition of the former President prematurely without evidential approval from a constituted body backed by the national assembly of the Gambia.
