The video of two ladies who disguised themselves in the Muslim women’s outfit widely known to be Jilbab in which they walked away with over D200,000 from a textile shop located in Serrekunda. This video is making rounds on social media and has sparked attacks on women wearing hijab especially those who wear Jilbab from what some described as morons and clowns.
The Party leader of the Gambia Action Party (GAP) Musa Ousainou Yali Bachilly, joined the rest of others to condemn those who launched attacks on God fearing women who practice the commandment of the highest Allah by wearing Hijab . He added that he received reports about some taxi drivers scaring passengers away from the Jilbab wearing women, the approach which is designed purposely to discolor the image of the practicers.
He added that the misbehavior of few individuals must not jeopardize the safety of several others who are genuinely and sincerely covering themselves to obey the commandment of Allah. He stressed that in the society we live, there are people with mixed characters but that should not be a base to judge others. He renewed the call for people to stop despising women in abaya using this volatile situation to launch attacks on Hijab wearing women.
Honorable Bachilly, sighted the recent incident purportedly meted out to a lady by a taxi driver which he said does not make all taxi drivers bad people. He also stated that those ladies in the video wear Jilbab to disguise themselves which should not be the base to discolor the image of the Hijab wearing ladies in the country.
