Journalist Kebba Secka on Friday morning alleged that he was tortured by paramilitary officers on his way to Kombo.

Secka, a resident of Kerr mot Hali was harassed, tortured and detained by policemen stationed at their community.
He said, the problem ensued when one Sergeant Darboe insulted him saying followers of Sering Ndigal are problems and they are non-Gambians.
Kebba said, the incident occured at around 9 am.

“I told him he should say that since we have not created any troubles. Darboe insulted my mother repeatedly. I don’t want to say those insults because he was insulting my mother. Whenever he insults me I told him he doesn’t have the right to insult me. Darboe said we are not Gambians and when I told him we are Gambians even though we are in exile ,he was offended and ordered Corporal Yusupha Ceesay to put me in handcuff. When Ceesay handcuffed me, he slapped and repeated this for some time before they took me to Njau,” Kebba explained.

He was taken to a health post in Njau where he was later referred to Kaur but the police have not taken him to hospital. He has been refused bail and the police said he won’t be granted bail until he gets instruction from the high commissioner of police.
The journalist has been charged with obstructing a police officer who is doing his lawful duty.

“I feel that the charge is unwarranted since I did not fight or quarrel with any police officer,” he said.

Kebba Secka is a follower of Sering Ndigal who after his dead his followers were chased out of the country. They are still residing in Senegal as exilees. In October 2017 the Banjul High Court in their judgment held that the Ndigal followers are Gambians and have the right to come back to the country but since then the judgment has not been enforced.
