The mayor of Kanifing Municipal council, Talib Ahmed Bensouda, on Thursday 21 May 2020, launched a new initiative called ’Made in The Gambia 50,000 face masks initiative,’ as part of his council’s efforts to ‘stop the spread’ of Covid-19 within KMC.

Following an update on their official Facebook page, 50,000 masks, which are purely made by Gambians, will be distributed to all the 18 markets in KMC.

“I would like to thank the Ministry of Health for providing the scientific designs for the masks, Tiga for coordinating more than a dozen talented local KM tailors who produced the masks and our Covid-19 task force for the implementation.”

“As the lock downs come to an end, stopping the spread via protective means will be an absolute necessity and, I therefore, call on all partners to help KMC reach it’s Target of 50,000 masks.”
