Recently about seven schools in the Gambia including Yundum Barracks Nursery School have received humanitarian gestures from a charity entity referred to as the Leipzig Germany chapter. The students received furniture and other valuable educational materials designed to boost the standard of the beneficiary schools in their quest to attain quality education.
Speaking at the presentation ground, Musa Sanyang, the chairperson to the charity foundation said, being an educationists, cannot over emphasis the significance of the donated items to the schools as the donated items will play pivotal role in ensuring quality delivery of service which is a step to achieving quality education as envisaged by all. He added that it’s the responsibility of everyone irrespective of their capacity to contribute one way or the other to the nation building character of which was recently manifested by their charity.
Chairman Sanyang, mentioned to the beneficiary schools in the North Bank Region that supporting grassroot education is a step in the right direction and he promised them of similar support in the near future.
In his part Alieu K Darboe, the communication officer to the charity also the ward councillor of Kembujeh ward advised the beneficiary schools to take ownership of the donated items by ensuring their durability and he further challenged them to use it for the purpose for which they were being donated. He added that this gesture is one of the contributions to compliment ‘s effort in some of the development undertakings in the country.
He promised that as a local representative he will continue to lobby for further support from the charity to support in the areas of sports, health meant to empower youths, women and children respectively.
The ward councilor of Madina Sering Mass, Honorable Amadou Bah who doubles as the Chairperson to the school management (SMC) applauded the gesture and highlighted that the charity provided similar support in 2000 which they cannot never forget.
The head teachers who spoke at the occasion namely Kebba Sonko and Lamin Demba in their remarks described the intervention timely and worthy.
Other speakers including youth leaders and community heads all echoed similar sentiments and the charity headed to the Upper River Region for similar project.
