One of the country’s young politician MC.Cham Jr, the national youth president of Gambia Democratic Congress (GDC), has once again lash out at the president’s latest appointment of Mr Oremi Joiner to the position of a Deputy Chairman of the board of directors  of Social Security Housing and Finance Corporation.

According to Mr Cham,  this recent appointment is no different from the previous appointment to the Independent Electoral Commission which was later rescinded due to the public outcry on its constitutionality as an NPP executive member. Mr Cham therefore, asked who the president’s advisers are on appointments and legality:“It is clearly stated in The Gambia 1997 Constitution section 175(2) PART3: PUBLIC ENTERPRISES that public enterprise means anybody corporate or other or institution wholly owned or controlled by the government.

(2) The members of the Board of Directors or other governing body of Public Enterprise shall be appointed by the president after consultation with the public Service Commission and shall be selected from amongst persons of integrity, competence and integrity and maturity of judgement “He emphasised.

Mr Cham further stated that anyone who is a member of the National Assembly, the holder of a political officer or an office of a political party shall not be qualified to be appointed to the Board of Directors or other governing body of a public Enterprise. “ it’s seems  to me that the Barrow administration is careless about the constitution and it means no respect for the rule of law , encourages corruption and threatens national security “ he frowned .
