The climate of Bakau Kachikally was filled with overwhelming feeling of fear and anxiety after a young man believed to be mentally unstable, slashed his biological father’s throat and then cut him with a machete.

Lamin Suwareh, who died on the spot due to excessive bleeding, was a single father of several children including his ‘killer’ residing in Bakau.

The murderer Pa Suwareh who is said to be in his early 30s, was heard shouting amidst the mourning crowd “I killed him, come and kill me”

The empathetic crowd who could not hide their frustration began yelling and crying in loud tones describing the act as vicious and cold-hearted.

According to an eye witness, the old man left a cutlass in the open after using it and went inside to get some rest, and that was how he got attacked and killed by his son.

“We were here that morning and heard a loud cry in the neighbouring compound. Lamin Suwareh’s daughter was shouting that Pa was killing their father. But before we could get to him, he had already killed him and went to stand alone covered in blood. There was so much blood.”

Another witness  Adama Nyandou, said “It is the worst imaginable form of killing and yet, the boy showed no remorse.”

Doudou Bojang who attended the same school as Pa said he knew him (Pa) as a very nice and cheerful person, adding that “he was never like this before.”

“His dad has been hustling to feed him and his sister since.” He concluded.
