More than hundred people were arrested for violating the curfew restriction orders constrained by the government of The Gambia to contain the spread of Coronavirus in the country.
As part of an ongoing effort to fight against the venomous virus, The Gambia Police Force launched ‘Operation Save Our Soul’ campaign to ensure the effective and smooth enforcement of the 21 days curfew regulations.
Superintendent Lamin Njie said the arrests were executed by the Tourism Security Unit, Anti-Crime Unit and other security agents in Basse, Brikama, Central River Region and other parts of the country.
“Those arrested will be prosecuted before the courts. Some of the arrested were arraigned before the court on Friday and their prosecution will continue. The compliant rate is high and we thank Gambians for honoring the regulations,” The Police Spokesperson confirmed.
