Strive for Gambia , a pressure group that is formed to fight against corruption and bad governance says , irrespective of negotiations they are going ahead to conduct peaceful protest by December 1 .
Below is their statement
In reference to the above caption,I Saloum Mboge is hereby writing in my capacity as the secretary general of “Strive for Gambla” informing all Gambians that we are planning to make a peaceful protest on the 1st of December, 2022.
We have come to make sure that there is transparency, accountability and probity in the way and manner we are govern by our leaders.
We have come to make sure that we put an end to bribery, corruption and nepotism through collective efforts. These things are rampant in this country and the government gives blind eye and a deaf ear to them . What a sad country!
In addition, the health ministry is one of the worse ministries if not the worse since this government came to power. There is no proper health care service given to the ordinary citizens in this country which infact has lead to the death of 656 women that have died during childbirth and 333 babies, excluding the death of 70 children that also have died of A K I . This is indeed pathetic . This is absolutely inefficiency, incompetency and greed on the side of this government. It’s obvious that this government cannot be at the helm of affairs of this country. . Why is it too hard for government officials to resign when they abuse their offices? May all the departed souls rest in eternal peace,Ameen.
Moreover, the cost of living in this country is another big challenge to it’s people especially the needy and the poor . The inflation in The Gambla is at it’s highest degree and the economy is depreciating. The low income earners finds it difficult to manage the little salaries they earned simply because the price of commodities keep increasing almost every day and the government seems not to care . There are compounds in this country that can’t afford the basic required meals and the government is here lavashing money.
Furthermore, the agric sector of this country is in serious mayhem. The government has shown little or no interest in Agriculture which is the back bone of any developing country as we used to say. It’s to our disappointed to have been said that the fertilizer this year,is 2,500 which used to be 700 . The question now is, how many farmers were able to afford that amount? Only few.The government therefore should empower agriculture so that the living standard of Gambians can be improve.
We are therefore calling on the government to pay heed to the concerns of citizenry because it is those same citizens that voted them in office. This is not about politics neither is it about tribe . There is absolutely no political party, tribe or religious group behind this movement. We are expecting such comments but such is part of life.
In continuation, we will also look into some other burning issues one of which is the security of this country. The lives and property of citizens are not secured . People are killing each other here and there as if there is no leader in this country. People that might be very productive to this country in the near future are gone just because somebody somewhere take their lives unnecessarily. What had happened to the promised about the security sector reform? Nothing absolutely has been reformed in the security sector. In the civil service too, nothing is reformed there .
The various commissions set up, turn to be futile . What have we seen ? Nothing. It is indeed sad that government officials will indulged into all forms of corrupt practices and nothing will be done about it. We therefore call on the government to investigate all financial scandals reported under the various ministries. We want to know about the 669 million dalasis spent without no approval. We want to know about the 35 million dalasis that has fraudulently got into the first lady’s account. We want to know about the 11.1 million lost of money in the central bank. We want to know how was the COVID 19 funds spent. We want to know how did the how did Dr Banja’s case ended in the fisheries ministry. We want to know what positive impact does the so- called airport security fees have on Gambians. We are also calling on the minister of youths and sports to return the padiam he gave to his wife who is not working in the government. What a fraud! Hey we deserve to know everything as citizens. Why is it so difficult for government officials to be transparent and honest to we The Gambians? We therefore stand firm to condemn corruption in this country.Thank you all for your kind attentio
