The leader of the United Democratic Party (UDP) Ousainou Darboe has been ordered by the Supreme Court of the Gambia to pay a fine of a 2 million dalasis upholding the decision of the Tax Commission 2012 for tax evasion. 

Announcing the decision today 28th January 2021, the court asserted that “the commission was right, consistent and the findings were supported by evidence.’’

Darboe was appealing a fine of D1, 981,296.52 (one million nine hundred and eighty-one thousand two hundred and ninety-six dalasis and fifty-two bututs) for tax evasion by the commission of inquiry.
