It’s a clarion call for all the peaceful Gambians especially the leaders of political parties to condemn the recent attack labelled against the Sarahule tribe and I as leader of GAP has vehemently taken the lead.

To err is human and to forgive is divine, but to persistently err on tribal bigotry directed towards one single tribe must as well be questioned. Fellow Gambians, this made it the third attempt similar recurrence happened and the government naively watches from the fringes. Our collective conscience and belief as humans must be in consonance with societal values and ethics.

I urge the Gambia Police Force under the stewardship of IGP to act swiftly and launch robust approach in ensuring that the person faces the full force of the law whilst calling on the AG Chambers to introduce a Bill in the parliament to curb against all derogatory remarks meted out to individuals and or tribes.

We must be careful of our utterances more so on tribal lines as nations before us engaged in tribal wars that started like the happenings in The Gambia. We still have a nation to build and all tribes are important geared towards that endeavour – let us give peace a chance, but must be spearheaded by the government and all leaders in various sectors.

I’m calling on my tribesmen and women as well as all the genuine people to remain calm and quiet whilst authorities in charge effectively work towards perfect service delivery and maintain our peaceful coexistence. On an equal footing, I’m urging the President and heads of security units as well as National Assembly Security Committee to work together in nonconcordant towards tribal bigotry and its similitude.

Secretary General and Party Leader of GAP,

Hon. Musa Ousainou Yali Batchilly.
