The Government’s spokesperson Mr. Ebrima G Sankareh, on Friday 17 July 2020, in a press conference, told journalists that mask wearing is now mandatory in The Gambia effective Friday 24 July, 2020.
“Part of the new regulations President Barrow signed into law and has been gazetted is that mask wearing is now mandatory in the Gambia,” He said.
Mr. Sankeh further stated that since the announcement is not yet official and it involved some extra cost, come next week Friday, people should start wearing masks to prevent the further spread of the virus.
He said, failure to observe the new regulation might lead to severe consequences.
He concluded that, if anyone fails to follow suit, they would have to explain themself to the police if seen outside without a mask.
