The Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) of The Gambia released the 2021 electoral calendar on Wednesday 15 July 2020.

The calendar encapsulates that Gambians in the diaspora will vote for the first time during the 2021 election.

The third republic of The Gambia would decide the faith of the incumbent president Adama Barrow, in the forthcoming election slated for 4 December 2021.

With new political parties joining the race in the upcoming 2021 election announced by the IEC, the political dimension could take a swift turn, with more than two decades of Gambia’s political independence been caged under the leadership of the then president yahya Jammeh.

The Gambia was a one party dominant state when the APRC was in power until their defeat in 2017 by the coalition led by the current president, H.E. Adama Barrow.

In every five years, Gambians march to the polls to vote for their desired candidate for president.
