A one storey building which collapsed at Banjul yesterday had a families trapped inside.

The building is situated at a junction between Anglesea and Leman street, now referred to as the OAU Boulevard in Banjul.

One person is reported to have broken a leg and several people sustained injuries when the residential building collapsed on Saturday afternoon, according to media reports.

Video footage seen by Kairaba news network  show the building in a deplorable condition, although no death is reported yet.

It was not quite clear what caused the building to collapse.

About a dozen people were extracted from the building and taken to the Edward Francis Small Teaching Hospital in Banjul.
