The Bundung Maternal and Child Health Hospital today 5 April , 2022 releases a press statement on the ongoing saga between it’s staff and the ministry of health . This was held at the hospital ground in Bundung .
The press statement has been delivered by the PRO of the hospital Omar Ceesay.
In his statement Omar Ceesay , PRO of the hospital explains that, on the 21st of February 2022, the chief executive officer of Bundung maternal and child health hospital received a redeployment letter to Bwiam hospital purportedly from office of the permanent secretary of ministry of health via WhatsApp.
He explained that , the redeployment order from their line ministry was frowned at and meeting was converged through a task force in that effect to attempt rescinding the decision of the ministry through diplomatic approaches with reference to the outstanding achievements of Mr Manneh in Bundung .
He states that, this news was received with mix emotions which attracted wide condemnation from both the hospital staff as well as the public influenced by the improved service delivery at the hospital under the watch of CEO Manneh .
He went further to say
On the 25th of February 2022, the tax force formed to negotiate the issue wrote a letter to the permanent secretary of ministry of health titled”APPEAL IN RESPECT OF MR MANNEH’s REDEPLOYMENT”. He added that , upon submission of the letter to the ministry series of follow up was carried out in this respect but was surprised that the ministry keep mute over the matter for unbearable period .
Ceesay said, BMCHH is the only government hospital whose current maternal mutuality rates stands 0.1%, as of 2021 and Mr Manneh equally is the only CEO who started the hospital from scratch when it was a health post. He describes Mr Manneh as a very hard working CEO who turns the hospital in to a centre of excellence a reputation which will ever be guarded by the staff
Mr Ceesay concludes by appealing to the honorable minister of health , Dr Samateh to reconsider his decision in the best interest of the staff,partners and patience and calls on Gambians to support them in this crusade He also raised his voice for the president of the country and his cabinet to intervene in this matter .
