The Gambia center for victims of human rights violations and other concerned Gambians today holds a conference with the media regarding the nomination of Fabakary Tombong Jatta as the speaker and seedy Njie as Deputy speaker of the 6th parliament.
The conference was held at the victim center in Kololi
Speaking on behalf of the civil society organization , Yusuf Tailor who said, the space in which citizens will express themselves should be available knowing fully what we passed through for the past 22years .
He was Quick to add that,nomination has a special purpose on the National Assembly
as it’s not meant for entrenchment and not a way for the president to entrench himself but to provide for the needy,the most marginalized which include disable community .
He concluded by strong emphasizing that the president should consider the victims and the less privileged.
“We are in solidarity with the victims and we fully condemn the nomination and we further asked them to resign”he noted
Kemesseng Jammeh , who was the former minority leader in the parliament during Jammeh’s regime and a victim rights were violated in the same regime said,it is very surprising for president Barrow to make such decision in appointing Fabakary and seedy.
He added that,the decision of appointing this two people is very bad for the country and there should be an action to reverse that decision.
