The ward councillor Of Kembejeh Ward Honourable Alieu K Darbie, has expressed concern of reports which emerged on social media  and it’s  says  minors  are being spotted at some  strategic voter registration centers in the country  such as  Niamina Sambang Fula Kunda in Central River Region (CRR),   Wali   Kunda and some parts of North Bank Region  lined up for registration, he describes this as exploitation  of their rights , introducing them  (minors)to a  political atmosphere when they are not physically and mentally ready  for it.

He added that, as per the children act of the country, it clearly  discouraged such practice and he called on the independent electoral commission (IEC) to look into this matter and  condemn it as it clearly violated the electoral process and the rights of the minors involved. He challenged all the political parties to consider Gambia first before partisan interest by excluding immature individuals from the electoral process. He advised parents to be vigilant and desist from pushing these innocent children to participate in this process.

” I call on Alkalol, Serfos, and parents to be vigilant and stay away from such practices as this practice is  contrary to the law of the state. There will be a reviewing court at the end of the process and there will be a public scrutiny, where the registered people will have their pictures and names  displayed for public observation and any ill  practice will be exposed ” he ended.”
