Youth Foundation: Extends helping hand to a needy community.

In the wake of the coronavirus pandemic,  most african countries are mainly not subjected to the virus alone but rather starvation.

The average Gambian feeds from hand to mouth, making it necessary for them to struggle on a daily basis for survival, and next to being impossible to adhere to “social distancing.”

As part of their humanitarian services, the Humanity Youth Foundation on 17 April 2020, embarked on a survey, and a two day sensitization, and distribution of rice in a small village, called, Kerr Jatta, located in the North Bank Region.

The foundation donated 10 bags of rice in which 20 families benefited from.

Four bucket taps were placed in strategic locations in the village to enhance frequent hand washing as a means of curbing the novel coronavirus.

The acting Alkalo of the village, Omar Joof, expressed  his appreciation to the startle gesture of the foundation.

“as young people you deemed it necessary to reach out to us whom you don’t even know is something great and applaudable,” he said.

Fatou A. Senghore, a native of the village who called-out for aid from Humanity Youth Foundation, through their social media platform few months a ago said, her effort to help the community was fruitful.

“this is a clear manifestation to the whole village that the Humanity Youth Foundation, is dedicated to assist in all aspects of life….” she added.

“my village is just few kilometers away from Senegal, a lot of vigilance is needed following the rapid increase in number of cases of coronavirus.”

She thanked the foundation for their benevolent support, and seek for further assistance from philanthropist to help the village with boreholes.

Meanwhile, the village has little or no access to clean drinking water, and electricity.

2/3 of the wells in the village are all dried up.

The main community old well is the only source water at the moment.

This amongst many other reasons serve as a challenge that makes it futile for many to fight the  Covid 19  pandemic in Kerr Jatta.
